Dunia Film - Kung Fu Panda 4: The Return of the Dragon Warrior. Did we really need another "Kung Fu Panda" movie?

Eight years after the trilogy ended in satisfying fashion, with the lovable and constantly hungry Po finally coming into his own as the Dragon Warrior, we are presented with "Kung Fu Panda 4".

But does it live up to the legacy of its predecessors?

The Struggle for Relevance

"Kung Fu Panda 4" seems to struggle to justify its existence. It lacks the delicate artistry and warm wit that made the previous movies so endearing.

The subtle sense of spirituality that was once a cornerstone of the series is now replaced by frantic action sequences.

Target Audience: Kids or Adults?

While the previous movies resonated with adults and entertained kids, this one appears to be geared mainly towards younger audiences.

The pacing often feels rushed, squandering potential moments of tension or humor.

The Plot: A New Threat Emerges

The plot is set in motion when Master Shifu tells Po that he must take over as spiritual leader of the valley.

Meanwhile, a shape-shifting sorceress known as the Chameleon, voiced by the formidable Viola Davis, emerges as a new threat.

New Characters: A Mixed Bag

To stop the Chameleon, Po reluctantly enlists the help of Zhen, a thieving fox voiced by Awkwafina.

While their dynamic can be amusing, Awkwafina's wise-cracking sidekick role feels a bit too familiar.

Conclusion: A Step Back for the Franchise?

In conclusion, "Kung Fu Panda 4" seems to be a step back for the franchise.

It lacks the charm and depth of its predecessors, and its focus on action over substance may leave fans of the original trilogy feeling disappointed.

However, it still offers some entertainment value, particularly for younger audiences.
