Plot Summary

Denzel Washington's Explosive Return as the Vigilante Hero

The Equalizer 3 begins with McCall working as a Lyft driver in Boston, where he encounters various people who need his help or deserve his wrath.

He also keeps in touch with Emma Collins (Dakota Fanning), a CIA analyst who is the daughter of his former colleague, Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo), who was killed in the previous film.

He also mentors a young artist named Miles (Ashton Sanders), who lives in his apartment building and is pursuing his dream of becoming a singer.

One day, McCall receives a mysterious phone call from a woman who claims to have information about his past. She tells him to meet her in Sicily, where she has a package for him.

McCall agrees, and flies to Italy, where he meets the woman, who turns out to be Aminah (Gaia Scodellaro), a former CIA agent who worked with him and Susan.

She gives him a USB drive that contains a list of names and locations of people who are involved in a secret organization called the Syndicate, which is behind a series of terrorist attacks and assassinations around the world.

She also tells him that the leader of the Syndicate is none other than Dave York (Pedro Pascal), McCall's former partner who he thought was dead, and who killed Susan.

McCall is shocked and angry, and decides to take down the Syndicate and avenge Susan. He contacts Emma, who agrees to help him by hacking into the Syndicate's network and providing him with intel.

He also contacts Frank Conroy (David Denman), a former CIA agent who is now a private contractor, and asks him to join him. He then tracks down and kills the members of the Syndicate one by one, while also protecting Aminah and Miles from York's men.

He eventually confronts York, who reveals that he faked his death and became the head of the Syndicate, working for a mysterious client who wants to create chaos and instability in the world. He also tells McCall that he is the Equalizer, a nickname that McCall used to have when he was in the CIA.

The Equalizer 3 ends with a climactic showdown between McCall and York in Morocco, where York has a secret base and a nuclear bomb.

McCall uses his skills and the resources of the local people to infiltrate the base and stop York and his men.

He then faces York in a brutal hand-to-hand fight, and manages to kill him by stabbing him in the heart with a knife.

He then disarms the bomb and calls the client, who turns out to be Artem Lukov (Adam Karst), a Russian oligarch who was the main antagonist of the second film.

He tells him that he has failed, and that he is still the Equalizer, and that he will never stop helping those who need him. He then hangs up, and leaves the base with Aminah and Frank.

The film closes with McCall returning to Boston, where he reunites with Emma and Miles, who are his new family. He tells them that he has decided to retire from his work as the Equalizer, and that he wants to live a normal life with them.

He also gives Emma a book that he has finished reading, "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas, which is a symbolic reference to his status as a vigilante. He then hugs them, and smiles, happy to have found peace.

Review

The Equalizer 3: Denzel Washington's Explosive Return as the Vigilante Hero

The Equalizer 3 is a thrilling and satisfying conclusion to the action thriller franchise, that showcases Denzel Washington's charisma and talent as an action star.

The film is a faithful continuation of the story and the character of McCall, who is a compelling and intriguing hero.

Washington portrays McCall as a man who is haunted by his past, but also driven by his sense of justice and compassion.

He is a man who can be gentle and friendly, but also ruthless and deadly. He is a man who has a code of honor, but also a dark side.

He is a man who is trying to find redemption, but also willing to kill. Washington brings depth and nuance to his role, and makes the audience root for him, even when he does questionable things.

The film's strongest point

The Equalizer 3 strongest point is the chemistry between Washington and Pascal, who play former friends turned enemies.

Pascal is a worthy adversary for Washington, and he portrays York as a charismatic and cunning villain.

The film also benefits from the direction of Fuqua, who knows how to create tension and excitement with his stylish and dynamic camera work.

The film also features some memorable action sequences, such as the opening train fight, the car chase, and the final showdown.

The film's weakest point

The Equalizer 3 weakest point is its lack of originality and innovation, as it follows the typical formula of a revenge thriller, with a lone hero taking on a powerful and corrupt enemy.

The film also suffers from some clichés and stereotypes, such as the Russian villains, who are portrayed as one-dimensional and cartoonish.

The film also relies too much on the violence and gore, which sometimes feel excessive and gratuitous. The film also fails to explore some of the moral and ethical implications of McCall's actions, and the consequences that they have on him and others.

Overall, The Equalizer 3 is an enjoyable and entertaining film that will appeal to fans of Denzel Washington, and to anyone who likes a good action thriller with a strong and charismatic lead.

The film is a solid and faithful sequel to the first and second films, but also a modern and stylish film that delivers on its promise of action and suspense.
